Professional Career Changer

Time for something new?

You’ve worked your way up the corporate ladder and found that the higher you’ve gotten, the more your job is playing politics and less about contributing significantly to projects that make a difference. Perhaps you are a successful sales professional who is continuing to be rewarded with more territory which means more travel and less time with your family and community. A career as a financial advisor gives you the financial reward of a high level executive, flexibility of an entrepreneur and meaning of a healthcare provider.

In order to become an advisor, you will be required to obtain a Life and Disability Insurance license for the state of Washington as well as investment licenses Series 7 and 66. Your insurance license is required prior to your start date and your investment licenses are required within your first year of employment. This job has flexibly with stability. You’ll be able to manage your own book of clients with the support of a well trained staff. You’ll be given all the training you need as you work your way up to a place you want to be.

Utor Wealth is unique in that we provide a base salary plus commission and investment fees which gives you both the security of a monthly paycheck and the unlimited upside of a commission career. While there are required office development meetings, the rest of your calendar is flexible to allow you to design it however fits your lifestyle and business needs. In addition, we provide healthcare, dental and vision benefits as well as a comprehensive retirement plan which includes a 401(k) with match, Roth IRA option, AND a Defined Benefit Pension Plan.

Most importantly, along side the earning potential and schedule flexibility is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in not just the lives of your clients but the community at large. At the macroeconomic level, the life insurance industry provides a benefit to the government and taxpayers by alleviating pressure on social spending. For example, from 2010 to 2014, the life insurance industry distributed $774 billion in contract payments, including life insurance benefits, income payments from annuities and disability income payments. This represents 20 percent of total Social Security payments made over the same period and 4 percent of the entire Federal Government’s annual spending. If the private life insurance industry did not exist, it is likely that the government would feel pressure to replace some portion of that $774 billion in payouts through increased social spending and higher taxes.* Without the type of work we do, the economy at large as well as our individual clients would lead much different lives.

Opportunity for you: There are very few career paths where you get to determine the height and pace of your career trajectory. Utor Wealth has an aggressive growth plan and is looking for candidates who excel in their first 2 years to develop into leadership positions and ultimately firm partners with an equity stake in the business. Like Dentists, you get to determine your office hours, if that includes leaving every afternoon at 3pm to spend time with your children as they get out of school or close shop at 1pm every Wednesday to take an afternoon tee-time, that flexibility is yours.

Consider this: With the above concerns, what we found in our workplace study at Guardian Life* is that most employees give themselves the lowest wellness score when it comes to matters of finance. As a financial consultant, you can help!

Experienced Advisor

The team you’ve always wanted.

There comes a time in every advisor’s practice where growth plateaus. In order to continue on an upward trajectory you typically need one of three things: new (larger) market to serve, capacity to spend more time in front of clients, or a platform that supports additional offerings.

If you reached a point where your time is consumed with services your existing clients, it may be time to expand your team.  We specialize in hiring and training both financial services staff members as well as new advisors.  Our philosophy is that you should spend your time using your unique ability which is communicating with clients.  Let us spend our time on interviews, background checks, training curriculums and system overviews.

At Utor, we have unique experience in taking practices to new levels. Like every decision, there’s no one size fits all solution, talk with us for a practice assessment to see if we may be the right fit to take your practice to new levels.

Changing firms is a challenge.  Our transition team specializes in making the move as seamless as possible.  We start the planning 6-8 weeks out and follow a proven process to get you up and running in your first week of your new affiliation.  We will also work with you to customize your communication plan with your clients, making your decision an exciting benefit to them as well.

Because Utor Wealth focuses on a client’s financial balance, we find that many advisors have an opportunity add new offerings to their existing clients which in turn, also provides them with an improved financial situation. We offer risk management in the form of insurance products both through Guardian and Innovative Underwriters. Securities are offered through Park Avenue Securities (PAS), our full service broker-dealer offering basic brokerage accounts, a robust fee based advisory program as well as UMAs, SMAs.

Also, we are successfully leveraging web based meeting platforms to save you and your clients time on the road and parking fees. Of course, we love and value our face to face interactions and provide value added workshops throughout the year to enhance our client’s experience and relationship, but there are many times through a working relationship where an in-person meeting is more hassle than it’s worth.

Is this career for you?

For your first two years as an advisor, 35-50% of your time is dedicated to professional development. This is done with a three pronged approach: interactive classroom learning, online web-based self study and most importantly in observing and running (with a Sr Partner) client meetings.

You can expect another 40% of your time to be client facing, again, for your first few years, primarily with a Sr Advisor or business coach. In these meetings you will facilitate a discussion around a client or prospective clients current financial position and decision making as well as their goals, hopes, fears and dreams for their future. Once a client engages in our process it is your role to facilitate smooth transitions for each step of the planning process: protection, cash flow, implementation and review.

Most importantly, as a new advisor, your role is relationship development. While the first two components overlap, you can expect to spend 20-30% of your time here. Advisors take many approaches here, digital or face to face being the primary. This could means attending association meetings, board meetings, and networking events or it could mean using LinkedIN and other web based tools to expand your network and influence within your community.
